Though they are still facing elimination, the Boston Bruins are still alive, thanks to the play of their netminder.

In Game 5 of the Atlantic Division Finals against the Florida Panthers, goaltender Jeremy Swayman turned away 28 of the 29 shots he faced, helping the Bruins steal a 2-1 road win, sending the series back to Boston with Florida still leading, 3-2.

The 25-year-old has been exceptional throughout the playoffs, dating back to the first round when he did not allow more than two goals in six starts against the Toronto Maple Leafs. His workload has ramped against the Panthers, forcing Swayman to come up big, especially late in the game on Tuesday night, when he had to make a game-saving stop on Sam Reinhart.

Swayman is 6-5 in the postseason with a 2.16 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage.

On Wednesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton joined Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk, talking about how Swayman has stolen the show for the Bruins in these playoffs.

Carter Hutton: The way he way he’s played consistently across the board…he’s dealt with a lot of pressure and I think he’s managed it so well. Just watching his game, he’s so calm and he stays within himself. He looks like such a veteran and he’s so mature. He’s put himself up in that upper echelon of, like, high-end number-one goalies. I think moving forward, you’re going to see him run with it. If the Bruins can come back in this series, he’s the guy at the top of the list for me [for most valuable].
